Syd Fischer’s’ Ragamuffin close under the dramatic dolerite sea cliffs as she rounds Tasman Island.
The year before, Ragamuffin had won the storm-ravaged Fastnet Race, the biennial ocean race infamous for rough seas and unpredictable weather between the Isle of Wight on the English south coast, out to the southwest coast of Ireland and back to Plymouth.
