Vengeance (1983)
One of the early maxis, Vengeance, skippered by David Kellett, rounding Tasman Island.
Vengeance had taken line honours in 1981. Here she took my breath away with that beautiful red and yellow against the dolerite columns.
Conditions were so good that day in 1983 that as we flew back to Cambridge, pilot Nick Tanner asked how many rolls of film I had shot. I counted them. I had averaged four frames for each boat. Nick deducted that we had taken one photograph every 46 seconds for five and a half hours. That was a lot of concentration and steep turns.
